"The play" Never really goes away. It gets modified if we are sick or injured.
Yesterday I had a perfect day. I got up early and hit the gym for weight training. 💪🏻 Then I had almost a full day of errands which all needed to get done and couldn't be put off. I was going to hit the Sheriff's gym for cardio, but decided if I went straight home I could run outside before dark. Brrr, even though it's freezing 🥶 out. It's not bad once you get moving.
I got home just in time to go for a run outside. I pushed myself a little more and kept a good pace (for now anyway). I haven't run much for years, due to the bad hips and back, and then the surgeries to fix them.
My first run was a month ago and I ran 6 times, each time just a little faster. A month ago I ran 5 miles at a 14 1/2 minute per mile pace. Yesterday I ran the same route at an 11 minute pace. That is not fast, and it certainly doesn't match the pace I did in my 30's, but it's such a blessing. 🙏⭐️
As I was gearing up, I thought: go go go, I have to get back before dark. It's now or never. I didn't feel like going. It would have been nice to get something warm and curl up by the wood stove. 🪵 It felt great once I got going. 🏃♀️
Well, today I woke up with a sore throat 🙃, no surprise since Randy just finished with this little cold virus. Now it's my turn. I'm super bummed. I wanted to workout today, and swim tomorrow, and I had exercise plans lined up.
I'm glad I lifted and ran 🏋♂️🏃♀️ because we should do it when we have the chance. Even though it's a push to make time. It's always going to be a push to make time.
You have the chance now. Make it count. Do it while you have the chance.
Because some days, the chance isn't there.
I'm doing what I should. I'm taking my vitamins, drinking lots of liquid, and the extra stuff for fighting colds. I don't need as much food.
Yesterday my fitness watch said I burned 200 calories lifting and 400+ calories running. I don't know how true that is but I burned more than today, so I need less today. I still need protein.
So the play is still the same for me with this cold virus, just minus exercise and a few less calories.

Keep the basics in mind all the time, every day. Don't call this obsessive. It's daily tasks of self care. It's no different than all the care raising kids or taking care of your home.
Do it while you have the chance!
Do you realize how important your chance today is?
