“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there. You must go beyond them.”
— BRUCE LEE
Whew! Wednesday hump day blues can happen sometimes. There's something about the week after a holiday weekend that can completely wipe us out. Don't let it be an excuse to plateau another week.
Or maybe for me it was days preparing this morning's surgery- now done ✔️ There were some complications, so I get a little more pain and swelling, some extra wires holding together cracked bone, as well as new parts. I don't get the planned out exactly even length legs. I will need inserts in my right shoe, my solution rather then redoing the surgery on my right hip to make it longer no thanks! 😉
I listed some tips below to get through the rest of the week.
👩🦯Plan Something Fun for the Weekend
Plan a hike, a visit with an upbeatfriend, a spa day, or whatever you know will make you excited. When things get difficult, just think about the fun and comfort you can find in your weekend activity.
Right now I'm excited thinking about my Nibbles weekend girlfriends visit to a cabin on Lake Almanor in August. Hiking, canoeing, cooking together and hanging out with friends 💗😎🙏
🛀 Take a Bath
Baths relax the muscles and calm the mind. Baths also force us to slow down and just rest. An Epsom Salt bath can help reduce muscle soreness and essential oils and aromatherapy is healing.
I won't be able to soak or swim until July, but that won't stop me from the self care I CAN do!
⏳️Know that it will pass
Know that every week won’t be a bad week. If there are specific reasons why this one sucked, try to figure out what they were, and how you can overcome them. If you are continually having bad weeks, it may be time to look for a change.
PS in spite of pain and complications today in surgery, I do view this week as a GOOD week.
🏄♀️Try a new exercise, maybe in a group.
While we can't out run calories, an exercise class can be a helpful way to boost endorphins (neurochemicals that make you happier) and boost confidence. Invitea friend 💗: studies have shown that you’re more likely to enjoy exercise when you do it with a friend.👯♂️👯♀️👯
I'm extremely grateful 🙏 for the opportunity to have my hips replaced. I have the rest of my life ahead of me to do things that were taken away from me for years. I look forward to doing some new exercise as well as tried and true. 🎾
What positive and fun things do you do to get through the week?
Oh, tomorrow morning I get my coffee ☕️ with fresh cream 🥛 from the farm 🚜 It wasn't allowed today before surgery.
