I am very sorry about Randy's coworker. I always tend to maybe over share when this subject comes up. Treatment resistant major depression has been part of my experience for almost 30 years. It is unbelievable how many people suffer in silence because of the stigma. I just tell people right off that I am crazy so they don't have any illusions otherwise and we can move on from there. The hope for everyone is every day they understand it better, the treatments are getting better, they have a treatment now that gives almost immediate relief. There is another big piece that I didn't want to accept for a very long time and that is what you put in your body (sugar etc.), choosing to exercise or not, sleeping on perhaps a rigid schedule, who and what you let into your life, are all as big a part of treatment as the meds to fix you. I am sorry his friend lost the battle, and if it was situational and not medical that is almost worse.
